First of all, I want to THANK YOU for all of your sweet comments and tweets after I posted about our new house. I’m so glad you enjoyed the post, and we’re super excited to move in! I love home decorating stuff, so maybe I’ll share some before-and-afters once we start decorating.
Onto this week’s What’s Up Wednesday post! (For details on What’s Up Wednesday and to join in, click here.)
What I’m Reading
I just finished an incredible middle-grade story: Counting my 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan. It was another book from my BEA stash, and it was one of the Middle Grade Editor Buzz picks. I can see why! More on that when I do my BEA book recap, which will be very soon because I only have 2.5 (I say .5 because one’s a novella) books left!
What I’m Writing
Confession: I didn’t work on my new manuscript for an hour every day like I planned. But I still made progress! I finally figured out what direction I want this story to go, so I started putting together a rough outline. (I love the seven-point plot system.) Now that I have that figured out, I hope to be able to bang out words faster. And I’m going to try to do better with my 1 hour a day goal. It’ll be challenging while we prepare to move, but I’ll make it work!
This weekend, I also started querying The Right Exposure again. Before that, though, I read my entire manuscript out loud to my husband! Since I wanted to give it one final read-through out loud, and he actually prefers to listen to audio books, I figured why not let him listen in? He hadn’t read it yet. Most of you haven’t read Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell since it’s not out yet, but it has a really romantic scene that involves reading out loud, so this reminded me of that. Except our reading experience was a lot less romantic. Ha. But it was helpful, and my husband liked my book! A win-win.
What Else I’ve Been Up To
Celebrating our new house, of course! We don’t move in for another couple of weeks, but in the meantime, we’re going to pop open the bottle champagne our realtor gave us and have a dance party in our new, empty living room. Yup. It’s happening.
