YAB Spring Writing Bootcamp: Last Update!

YAB-Spring-Writing-Challenge-2014

With Memorial Day Weekend behind us and temperatures hitting over 80 degrees yesterday in Connecticut, it appears that spring is coming to an end. And with it, the YAB Spring Writing Bootcamp! I’m so grateful for this challenge and sorry it’s over.

My word for 2014 is focus, and the YAB Bootcamp provided that for me. The weekly check-ins, accountability teams, and word sprints gave me the structure and motivation I needed. My goals shifted throughout the challenge, but my main one – to finish the first draft of my second manuscript – has a big, fat check mark next to it, and I couldn’t be happier. Who knew I could write 25K words in a month! It certainly helped to have my fellow bootcampers cheer me on. :)

There’s still a lot more work to be done – I see a ton of revision in my future – but I’m excited to keep the bootcamp momentum going and have just as productive a summer.

A big shout out to my fellow Buccaneers – it was a blast hosting the bootcamp with you! And to my Team Mountaineers – Stephanie ScottSarah ChafinJennie KingPrerna PickettKari Marie White, and Catherine Craglow: you rock!

  1. That big, fat check mark must feel awesome! Congrats on finishing your second manuscript, Ghenet! The manuscript I’m working on now is my second one, and it feels like just as huge of an accomplishment as the first because I needed to know that I could finish a novel again. Wishing you lots more 25k months in the future! :)

  2. I LOVE it! Congrats on finishing your draft and on SO MUCH productivity! I hope the momentum continues too. :)

  3. You did an awesome job, Ghenet! Especially finishing up the first draft of your second manuscript. That’s huge! :D This summer should be full of revisions for both you and me. Can’t wait! (I’m only kind of joking.)
