Ready. Set. Write! Update #4

Ready. Set. Write! is a summer writing challenge hosted by Jamie MorrowErin FunkKaty Upperman, and Alison Miller. For more info, click here! Each week, we give short updates on our goal progress.

How I did on last week’s goals

So…I didn’t complete last week’s goals. Between the long holiday weekend and a busy week leading up to it, I only revised one chapter, and I didn’t finish the memoir I’m reading as research. I’m not fretting over it – I enjoyed spending the long 4th of July weekend with my husband and friends, and now I’m recharged and ready to tackle my goals this week. The good news is I received really helpful notes from a few of my CPs on my first 3 chapters, and they’re enjoying the story so far. Yay!

My goal(s) for this week

  • Incorporate CP changes to first 3 chapters.
  • Revise 3 more chapters.
  • Finish that memoir!

Something I love about my WiP

I’m excited that my CPs like what they’ve read so far. They are the first ones to read this story, so I’m relieved and excited. Their notes are motivating me to keep going!

Have a good week!

  1. Yay for great CP feedback! I would die without mine. And so glad you had a lovely fourth! Good luck with your goals this week! You can do it!

  2. It’s always such a relief when other people read what you’ve written and enjoy it! After I spend too much time writing and revising, it all starts to look like gobbledee-gook and I wonder if it even makes sense at all, haha. Good luck on your goals this week :)

  3. I think it’s great you’re refreshed from last week and not fretting about not quite making your goals. And congrats on the positive feedback from your CP’s!

  4. Oh, that’s awesome that your CPs are liking your story! From the sounds of it, this was a tough week for everyone on the writing front. With holidays in the US and Canada, it was bound to happen, right? Here’s to a much more productive week for all of us! :D

  5. Glad you’re feeling recharged and ready to tackle your latest goals! It’s awesome that you got some great CP feedback as well. There’s nothing like positive feedback to boost the motivation and that can sure be hard to come in the summer! Happy revising, Ghenet!

  6. Holiday weekends are always hard to get writing done for me, too. Which is why I joined Ready, Set, Write, I knew I would need the accountability. Thinking good writing vibes for us all!
