Ready. Set. Write! Update #6

Ready. Set. Write! is a summer writing challenge hosted by Jamie MorrowErin FunkKaty Upperman, and Alison Miller. For more info, click here! Each week, we give short updates on our goal progress.

How I did on last week’s goals

I wasn’t as productive as I’d hoped but I did make some progress on revising my first 50 pages. Honestly, I hit a motivation slump that I need to get out of ASAP.

My goal(s) for this week

Keep working on those first 50! It’s my birthday on Thursday and I know this weekend will be busy with festivities and what-not, so I’m not sure how much I’ll get done. I’ll be happy with whatever progress I make.

The biggest challenge I faced this week

Feeling meh about revising. I’m not sure what it was, since I usually love revising, but I just wasn’t feeling it last week. I think a love list is in order! *Adds to list of goals*

Something I love about my WiP

I really do love this story, and feel good about the query I worked on last week. I just need to get excited again about revising! Hopefully this will be the week…

Have a good week!

  1. Yes! A love list is definitely in order! It really helps!

Also, I hear you on the motivation thing. I was there a few weeks ago with my revision. But you can do this!

I hope you have a great week!

  2. Oh, Ghenet. I am so in the same boat as you right now. I’m struggling in the motivation department and this revision feels like it’s taking FOREVER. So, yeah. You’re not alone. Here’s hoping we both find our motivation soon! :D

  3. A love list sounds like the perfect remedy for a motivation slump! Hope you make some great progress this week before your birthday festivities! ;)

  4. I have days/weeks of being completely burnt out with my WiP too, Ghenet, no matter how much I love the characters and the story. I hope you find your way out of that slump really soon. I totally support the creation of a Love List and I hope you’ll post it because, selfishly, I want to learn more about your story. :-)

  5. Slumps happen. I hope you can get unslumped really soon. Maybe the birthday festivities will help you recharge? Happy early birthday, BTW!! By the next RSW update, we’ll BOTH be 30 (my bday is Monday!)… I hope you enjoy the decade leap :)

  6. Happy almost birthday!!!

I’m just now coming out of a slump. It’s such a frustrating place to be, but I definitely think a love list is one of the remedies.

Have an awesome week and enjoy your festivities and what-not :)
